You can use the standard upload flow or simply drag and drop files and folders. ## Upload an asset 1. Log into your account — you'll arrive on your **Dashboard**. 2. Click the **New Asset** button to enter the upload flow. You can also use the **+ New** button in the left-hand navigation (it shows just **+** when the nav is collapsed) and select **New Asset**. 3. Decide whether to use **auto-tagging** for this upload. If auto-tagging is enabled in your Account Settings it shows as **On** by default; you can toggle it **On** or **Off** here. 4. Drag and drop files and folders onto the page, or click **browse** to choose items from your computer. 5. Watch the progress bar as each file uploads — a green checkmark appears as each completes. When everything is done, click **Next**. 6. If you uploaded files (not folders), add **tags** and **custom fields** to each asset using the icons on the right of each row. 7. Use the checkboxes to select multiple assets (or the top box to select all). Bulk-action icons appear so you can tag, add custom fields, and assign files to folders at once. 8. Assign the files to the proper **folders** to start working with them. 9. Return to the **Dashboard**. Your new files appear in the **Recently Added** section in the lower-right corner. ## If you skip filing assets into folders Assets you haven't filed into a folder stay on the **Uploaded** page — the same page the **Uncategorized** entry on your Folders list opens. Select items and use the floating bulk action bar to tag, add custom fields, or move them into folders, the same way you would anywhere else in Collage — see [Acting on many assets at once with bulk actions](https://support.collage.inc/articles/bulk-actions). This page doesn't have the Display (view/sort/thumbnail-size) button that folder pages have. ## Drag and drop files and folders You can also drag content straight into the platform — a single file, multiple files, or an entire folder hierarchy — dropping onto the Dashboard or into an existing folder. ### Drop into the Dashboard - Dropping individual files onto the Dashboard uploads them to the **Uncategorized** folder. A notification appears directing you to the upload flow to adjust tags and assign a folder. - Dropping a folder (or folder hierarchy) uploads all the content **and** recreates the folder structure in your account. The top-level folder becomes a parent folder in Collage. ### Drop into a folder - Dropping files onto a folder page uploads them straight into that folder. - Dropping a folder or hierarchy onto a folder page adds it as a **subfolder** and uploads all its content. > If AI auto-tagging is toggled on in your Account Settings, applicable content is auto-tagged when you use drag and drop, too.
