# Using Quick View to preview assets

**Quick View** gives you a fast look at an asset — a larger preview plus a handful of common actions — without opening the full detail page. It's the quickest way to check or use an asset while browsing.

## Open Quick View

In **grid view**, hover over an asset to reveal the **expand/lightbox icon**, then click it to open the **Quick View** panel. Quick View is available for assets (folders use a different menu).

> Note: Quick View is the fastest way to preview an asset without leaving the page you're on.

## What you can do in Quick View

The panel shows a **file preview** alongside quick actions:

- **Info tooltip** — hover the info icon to see the asset's ID, Credit, Date Uploaded, Last Modified, File Type, and Dimension.
- **Download** — click the download icon to save the asset directly.
- **3-dot menu** — open **Add to collage**, **Remove From Collage**, or **Open detail view** (jump to the full [asset detail page](https://support.collage.inc/articles/asset-detail-page) for metadata, version history, and more).

## Choose Quick View or the full detail page

Reach for Quick View to preview or download quickly. Use **Open detail view** when you need full control — editing metadata, reviewing version history, or setting visibility. To download several assets at once, see the downloading assets article below.
